Why Do We Always Want Things To Die?

We still ride horses, horse and carriages, and yeah we will walk.

We still listen to radio, watch TV (including the commercials), and yeah, MySpace still exists.  And yes, we’re still blogging.

So why do we always look for a Facebook killer?  Why do we worry about whether or not Google Plus will be able to continue?

Who gives a shit.

All of the above-mentioned are still alive in one form or another… yet people have claimed (and are still claiming) they are dead or dying.

Nothing is going to die, it will simply adapt or take on a new form.

As for media tools, they are just that… tools.  Nothing more.

I’m waiting for the next report of The Death of the Wrench.  Oh wait… wrenches aren’t exciting enough for ratings I guess. ;)

A little tip for news outlets and media creators who use extreme hype to start conversations about topics that are beaten to death… you’ll get attention for the day, maybe even a week… but is it really worth it?

Think about this… are the advertisers looking for eyeballs that are responding to an article title full of meaningless hype?  Or are they looking for targeted eyeballs?
