I started writing copy in 2001, and back then the copywriting world was much, much different than it is today in terms of the “product” being requested.
Back then… print newsletters, ezines, direct mail, online sales letters (long scrolling type with simple page design)… etc… but video wasn’t quite the hit that it is now (it was challenging to get video online and play it because most people were still on dial-up).
What am I writing now?
Video scripts, emails, sales letters (still the long scrolling type… yes they still work), brochures, etc… but I want to focus on one type of copywriting “product” in this post…
The video script.
A copywriter who can write a solid video script is worth their weight in gold. I’m writing a particular type of video script now called an “explainer” video script. These are the videos that use animation and stories to explain complex topics in a short period of time for different reasons.
I have to say… I may have discovered a new copywriting passion.
