Social media is all the rage right now. And I do believe that social media does present a wide array of tools (keyword: tools) with which to engage your audience.
But what if we are heading for a second wave of “dot-com crash” with all of this?
I mean, yes, Facebook has incorporated a revenue-model into it’s business…but what if quite people start to get tired of “having their privacy invaded”, or what if Zuck decides to do something with his vision that pisses tons of people off?
Twitter, same thing.
Contrary to what some so-called “social media experts” will say, yes, it can happen any day. In fact, if your whole business is riding upon the use of these tools, which is all they are, wrenches and screwdrivers folks, not the whole house…then you’re setting yourself and your business up for failure…period.
Businesses are not built on top of other businesses folks…
…businesses are built on the people (community) which you serve, no matter what tools you’re using to spread the word and keep in touch with those people.
Is your business heading for Dot-Com Crash 2.0?
