Small Business Owners: One Thing You Can Do To Start Generating Profits Now
I’ve served hundreds of clients over the years.
One thing I’ve noticed about most small business owners, is they tend to get trapped in the day-to-day minutiae of their businesses. They don’t look at their business with the right set of glasses.
They look at it from the inside.
Wrong.
One thing you can do as a small business owner is look at your business from the outside…and to do that, you have to set aside a focused amount of time to do so. You have to…
Or you’ll be calling me when the money runs out.
It’s probably the number one cause of small business failure.
So, you start by looking at assets:
- Your customer database. How many times are you mailing or contacting customers on that list.
- Your “not customers” database. Are you following up with potential customers that aren’t buying from you?
- Your employees. Who is treating your customers the right way? Who’s doing it wrong?…and when does that get corrected or when does the employee get fired?
- Are you relying on “hope” to market your business? Typically, I’ve seen small business owners who insist their business is running fine on word-of-mouth or referrals…and 99% of the time, that just isn’t enough.
- Are you testing different forms of marketing?
- Are you testing your current marketing? Or are you just throwing money against the wall and hope it sticks?
- And on…and on…
You need to do this examination at least once a month.
The sustainability of your small business depends on it.
