If you’ve been marketing for any length of time, you’ve probably heard the term “original content.”
It seems like a simple term, yet so many marketers are STILL getting their Google Adwords accounts suspended or banned, and still getting told by Google to improve their landing pages.
Come on people…
Original from my point of view means original, meaning generated from you…and you alone. No shortcuts, no excuses, not copied from anywhere else…etc… (outsourcing your writing does generate original content so long as it’s edited and checked to ensure that content isn’t copied or “spun” from anywhere else).
And by the way content spinners, if your business relies on Google, your time is coming soon, if it isn’t here already…don’t say I didn’t warn you. Original means original, not the same article spun 48 different ways so it doesn’t make sense 31 of those ways.
Why is any of this important to you?
People will start submitting site complaints more often going forward, they’re tired of seeing crap sites because some moron is looking for a quick buck…if you don’t think people are wising up to it…well, don’t call me when your money runs out.
And about content, that means real, valuable content people. Google doesn’t respond to your offers, people do, and while your content-sparse pages might be working for now…they won’t soon.
The bottom line is, quit trying to game the system, and just get to work on producing real, original content that people enjoy reading. Your business will profit from that in the end.
