We have some serious work to do as entrepreneurs.
Here’s what I mean…
Steve Jobs, the Founder of Apple, has recently passed away. So I’ve decided to do as many other marketers and business owners are doing and pay tribute to the man who has most certainly refused to play by any rules except his own, and as a result, changed the way we are living forever.
Some people say that we only see the likes of a Steve Jobs once in a lifetime…but I have a BIG problem with that.
Why does that have to be the case?
Aren’t we better than that as a society? Why is it that someone like Steve Jobs only come around every 50 years (as some people say)?
I think we need to raise the bar as entrepreneurs, and we need to set it really high. We need to start thinking about how WE can change the world, and how people live…no excuses, no holds barred, no more “settling” for second best products…no more waiting.
If we do this as a society of entrepreneurs, there will be no choice but for others to be inspired and join the movement. Folks, our world economy is in BIG trouble, in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if…because of HUGE corporate greed and stupidy…on the verge of collapse.
I know that sounds harsh, and we all want to believe it’s rosier than that…but dammit people…it isn’t. No more sugar coating the problems we have to solve.
And as entrepreneurs, it’s time to stop whining about it, and start solving those problems (I’m at work on 2 key projects right now which will go live in the near future to do my part). We need to create jobs as entrepreneurs, we need to be creative and start solving problems as entrepreneurs…
…Fuck people, we need to take our world economy back as entrepreneurs!
If you’re already working on an entrepreneurial project, make it better…bigger…faster…whatever — get it to a standard that would make Steve Jobs proud.
If you’re not already working on an entrepreneurial project…it’s time to shove every excuses, limitation, “rule you have to play by” etc… and put them in a drawer.
And as a final thought for this post, here’s what I mean by “Grabbing A Speck Of Dust” in the title…
Steve Jobs didn’t need anything more than that “little spark”, that little speck of dust of an idea to get started on what will probably be the largest shift in technology in recorded history (for now). He didn’t need everything to be lined up just right, he didn’t need any excuses, he worked full-out for years getting Apple started.
And it didn’t matter what people thought, good or bad he just kept doing it.
My main point is YOU don’t need anything more than that idea, that little inspiration, that concept to get started yourself. But don’t just see how you can make something better…instead I’m asking you to set the standard…make the rules for once that everyone else plays by.
The world is waiting for you to ship
